What to Expect
What to Expect & What’s Offered at Our Wilmington Outpatient Program in North Carolina
Wilmington Treatment Center offers intensive outpatient programming (IOP) that is designed for two types of patients:
- Individuals who have completed inpatient rehabilitation or a partial hospitalization program (PHP), yet who can still benefit from a step-down level of care before returning home
- Individuals whose treatment needs can be met at a treatment level that is less intensive than inpatient rehabilitation or PHP
We have been providing IOP services in the Wilmington area for more than two decades. Our Wilmington IOP is located near bus routes and local halfway houses, and IOP services are offered both in the mornings and in the evenings in order to best accommodate our patients’ schedules. Patients who receive IOP services will attend four days each week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). Each treatment day features three hours of therapy, for a total of 12 hours per week. An aftercare group and a gender-specific group for women are also held on Wednesdays.
IOP patients at our Wilmington location have the option of attending treatment either from 9 a.m. to noon or from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The typical length of stay in IOP is six to eight weeks, with a goal of completing 32 sessions. Individuals who complete IOP may also attend 12 weekly aftercare sessions.
The discharge planning process begins the day that a patient enters IOP treatment. By the time the patient has completed treatment, he or she will have a comprehensive plan that identifies the resources that will support his or her continued recovery.
Our Evidence-Based Approach & Expert Staff
Learn More About the Specialized Care at Our Wilmington IOP in North Carolina
All treatment that is provided through our IOP is based on the principles and practices of the 12-Step recovery model and is implemented according to best-practice modalities with an emphasis on personal growth and recovery. The focus areas of IOP services include coping skills, stress management, and relapse prevention. Treatment is inclusive and does not focus on specific substances; however, the specific substance or substances that an individual had been abusing will be a focal point on his or her individual treatment plan.
Treatment at our Wilmington IOP location is provided by certified substance abuse counselors and licensed clinical addiction specialists. All of our clinicians specialize in addiction counseling, and all have been trained in the Matrix IOP Model. This treatment model grew from a need for structured, evidence-based treatment for clients who abuse or are dependent on drugs. This comprehensive package provides substance abuse treatment professionals with an intensive outpatient treatment model for patients and their families.
