About the Program

Learn More About Our Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program in Raleigh, NC

At Wilmington Treatment Center, we are devoted to offering a comprehensive continuum of care that allows patients to receive the treatment they need in the least restrictive setting possible. This continuum of care includes our intensive outpatient programs (IOP).

The intensive outpatient programs at Wilmington Treatment Center have been created for patients who have completed our inpatient rehabilitation program or our partial hospitalization program (PHP), yet are still in need of a step-down option that offers a structured setting in which to hone the skills they have learned as they reintegrate back into their communities. Other patients may benefit from engaging in IOP if their treatment needs do not require the intense nature of inpatient rehabilitation or partial hospitalization and therefore can use IOP as the starting point for their recovery process.

The intensive outpatient program is offered at two locations, one of which is conveniently located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Raleigh location was opened in May of 2015 in an effort to expand our ability to serve as many individuals who are in need of our services as possible. The Raleigh office is located just outside of the Beltline on Lake Boone Trail.

What to Expect

What to Expect & What’s Offered at Our Raleigh Outpatient Program in North Carolina

Currently, the IOP services at the Raleigh location are only offered in the evenings. Programming is held four days a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Programming is structured so that three hours of therapy are held each day, for a total of 12 hours each week. Aftercare groups and a gender-specific group for women are also available on Wednesday evenings.

IOP patients at our Wilmington location have the option of attending treatment either from 9 a.m. to noon or from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The typical length of stay in IOP is anywhere between six and eight weeks, but individuals who complete these sessions also have the option of attending aftercare sessions for 12 weeks post-treatment.

The treatment that is provided in our IOP is based on the 12-Step recovery model, helping patients to develop coping skills, learn how to better manage stress, and create tools for preventing relapse. Our certified substance abuse counselors and licensed clinical addiction specialists place a strong emphasis on personal growth and recovery for each patient, ensuring that their plans of care are customized to truly meet each of their unique needs.

When patients begin to engage in the intensive outpatient program at Wilmington Treatment Center, a discharge plan will be created. This allows patients the comfort of knowing that, once they have completed treatment in IOP, a comprehensive plan is in place to help them reintegrate back into their daily lives.
